ABOUT WEST HAMPSTEAD

One of the two vemues for Deborah Marshall-Warren's training courses in hypnotherapy is in West Hampstead, north-west London, England.

Venue

West Hampstead used to be a village before it was swallowed up by the growing conurbation of London. Today, it retains something of a 'village' feel, centred in West End Lane, Mill Lane, and Fortune Green.

The venue is in an 1870s town house in a quiet street in West Hampstead. Training takes place in a light and spacious room. Practice in pairs and small groups takes place in side rooms. The number of participants is limited to twelve.

Getting there

The location has good transport connections. It is eight minutes walk from three railway stations:
  • The London Underground: West Hampstead station on the Jubilee line. On this line, you can get to Bond street in the centre of London in twenty minutes, and the mainline rail terminus of Waterloo in thirty minutes. Waterloo station has regular Eurostar services to and from Europe. (See www.thetube.com for map and service information on the Tube.

  • Thameslink: West Hampstead Thamselink station. In the northbound direction, the Thameslink line takes you up to beautiful St Albans, and on to Luton Airport. Southbound, you can get to the mainline rail terminus of Kings Cross in ten minutes, Blackfriars and the City in fifteen minutes, and then on to Gatwick Airport and Brighton on the south coast.

  • Silverlink: West Hampstead station. This is one of the few east-west lines in London. It extends from Kew and Richmond in the west to Canary Wharf, London City Airport, and North Greenwich in the east.
To check on rail schedules for reaching the venue, please refer to National Rail's web site, www.nationalrail.co.uk.

There are also frequent buses services along West End Lane, with a bus stop five minutes from the house. Northbound, the buses take you to the terminus at Golders Green, which is also a stopping point for National Express services. Southbound, the buses take you into central London.

If you are travelling by car, then there is on-street parking near the venue. No parking permit is required on the weekend, nor after 6 pm on weekdays. If, however, you are staying at Charlotte's Guest House (see below) and you arrive on the Friday before 6 pm, then you must get a Visitor's Parking Permit (either from Whole-Being, or from the Guest House). The traffic wardens are very vigilant, and it would be an unfortunate start to the weekend to have a parking ticket.

Accommodation

Accommodation is recommended at Charlotte's Guest House. This is a very friendly establishment that has been a feature of West Hampstead for many years. See their web site, www.charlotteguesthouse.co.uk for details. The Guest House is just three minutes walk from the training venue. It has 43 rooms in converted houses.

Car Hire in London

EasyCar have a pick-up and drop-off point in the Sainsbury's car park, ten minutes walk from the training venue. You can book a car online at www.easycar.com, selecting "London Finchley Road" as the location.
