Some Tips for Retreat Trainingby Deborah Marshall-WarrenMany of us have got into the habit of not sitting down in the eighties and nineties. We now 'download' the same message to our children. We fill our childrens' time with structured experiences and tasks leaving little or no time to do nothing. And yet, it is often when as a child we had nothing to do that our creative juices jumped into play, and suddenly there was much-ado in our imaginary games. Likewise when we allow ourselves to sit down for a few moments we get to think about things and sometimes we might intuit an idea or a solution.Intuition allows you to communicate with yourself in a very direct and immediate way. This contrasts with communication with others, which - although easy and convenient in the modern era of technology - is often distanced and distancing. Communication with ourselves is potentially on our own inner doorstep. All you have to do is listen and give yourself your attention. When you do nothing, and just listen you will increase your ability to hear, and respond, to your inner voice - some mighteven say your 'divine' voice or presence, otherwise known as your intuition. It is not unusual for a person's intuition to increase and expand as the mind quetens down. You effectively begin to switch channel from without to within - to the self, and to discover the ability to tine in to your very own higher wavelength. In this altered state of contemplation you are not asleep but are aware of everything that is going on. It is a kind of prayerful state. You may give the impression of being asleep because your body is relaxed. Day-dreaming is a heightened state of awareness. You change gear in your mind to go into a day- dream. If however you stay in that day-dream and become completely involved in the day-dream, you will be quite oblivious to what is happening around you. Because your inner mind is acting for your survival, your inner mind steps forward as a watchful observer - in effect to protect you. The more you become in touch with your sense of intuition and trust its insight, the wisdom, the suggestions, the more you will move from a state of inner conflict to a state of inner peace. Decisions will be made with increasing ease. You will move closer towards living your life in the here and now. Increasingly, as you maintain a presence in the now, you will find that just that moment really matters. And when you hear your intuition - run with her! Go with your heart feeling, your hunch, the inner urge, whatever you choose to call it. Follow your heart! Where necessary, genuinely take the actions needed to meet the suggestions that flow from within. If you receive a suggestion to write a letter to someone, some organisation, or other - write it! A suggestion to contact someone, or to find out about something - do it! By taking actions you naturally provide encouragement to the voice to speak more, knowing that it is more likely to be heard. Then comes an increasing sense of inner Peace and Calm.

Deborah Marshall-Warren's "Mind Detox"by Dean West"Mind Detox" is the new book by leading London hypnotherapist Deborah Marshall-Warren.Anyone seeking a method of boosting their self-confidence or generally attempting to improve their well-being would almost certainly benefit from reading this book. It's easy to read format delivers dozens of short, succinct lessons on how to help us use talents which we all already possess, but are not perhaps aware of, in order to improve our methods of dealing with the stresses and anxieties brought about by modern living. Ms Marshall-Warren draws on her wealth of experience to help us review our life styles and thus create a more relaxed and confident self. She achieves this through the setting up of internal dialogue systems which in turn are then linked to well documented metaphors from the worlds of business, film and literature. This book makes self-therapy accessible and could easily become a powerful tool in your search for a more motivated and harmonious way of life.
