WHOLE-BEING HYPNOTHERAPY:
INTRODUCTION TO HYPNOTHERAPY

Gate of the house

A gateway to hypnotherapy ...

This year, Deborah Marshall-Warren commenced teaching a new course, Introduction to Hypnotherapy. The course provides a grounding in basic techniques of hypnotic induction and direct suggestion, for people who have never tried hypnosis before. You are welcome to enrol just out of interest, or for self-discovery, or as the first step toward using hypnosis therapeutically.

For bookings or enquires, please contact Deborah Marshall-Warren on: London (020) 7432-0307, or email appointments@marshall-warren.com. Or, go straight to the online enrolment page or the offline enrolment page.

THE COURSE

The course is a gentle and enjoyable introduction to:

  • the experience of being in a hypnotic trance

  • the induction of hypnosis in another person

  • the basic use of direct suggestion to help someone become more relaxed and self-confident
At the Malta venue, this course comprises three days: one weekend, and the following Saturday. At the London venue, it comprises two somewhat longer days.

The course is fully structured to make maximum use of the time. It is backed up with comprehensive written training materials. It will comprise: one-to-many lecturing; demonstrations by Deborah; and hands-on practice between course participants. The course is focused on effective practice, and not on theory.

The first course ran in May 2003, and was a great success. The next courses are as follows.

What you can gain

If you have not experienced hypnosis before, you will discover a remarkable and natural ability of your mind to let go of everything and sink into an enormously comfortable and reassuring state. You will also discover that leading someone else into this state is not magic, and does not require special talents. You can do it quickly and easily. And. having brought someone into the hypnotic state, you will gain an understanding of the basic technique of hypnotherapy by means of direct suggestion.

Introductory experiential training
These training days are not intended to qualify you to be a practising therapist. Rather, they are intended to give you the knowledge, the confidence, and -- specifically -- the hypnotherapeutic skills to promote well-being and confidence in yourself, and in friends and family who wish to experience therapeutic hypnosis.

Immediate application
The course will provide you with the tools to work together with members of your family, and perhaps with your children, and willing and interested friends. For example, you would be able to help them to relax during preparations for school or college exams, and with developing confidence for challenges such as interviews and wedding speeches.

Direct suggestion hypnosis
The course will provide you with the provisional tools to induce hypnosis -- and to experience, to develop, and to apply direct suggestion and guided visualisation in hypnosis. The course is a sound investment in preparation for any further course of study in hypnotic therapy.

Further professional training
If you are interested in practising hypnotherapy -- either as a professional hypnotherapist, or employing hypnotherapy as one therapeutic modality in a more general therapeutic role, then you will find this introductory course will be a good preparation for more advanced training.

Course aims

The course will:
  • Guide you through a thorough and comprehensive introduction to hypnotherapy.

  • Teach you how to induce a state of hypnosis safely and responsibly.

  • Promote an in-depth understanding of how hypnotherapy can be used to promote personal development and be of therapeutic value.

  • Provide techniques of meditation and relaxation.

  • Provide a programme for confidence and self-esteem building from within.

  • Provide the skills to support and develop the same in others.

  • Teach you how to create and develop your own hypnotic suggestions for change within yourself and within willing others.

  • Generate a real boost within yourself, and your sense of general well-being.

Course content

The content of the course follows the following chapters of Deborah's book, I'm Afraid of Hypnosis but I don't Know Why:
