WHOLE-BEING HYPNOTHERAPY: TRAINING

Eye of the house

From Alpha-waves to Zabbar!

Deborah Marshall-Warren has been running training courses in interactive hypnotherapy since 2003. Courses have been held in London and Malta. The course content is essentially the same for the two venues, but in Malta you can combine the training period with a fantastic holiday in the warm and historically rich Mediterranean island of Malta.

The venue in London (see map) is a spacious apartment in West Hampstead, which is easy to reach by public transport. The venue in Malta (see map) is a 200-year-old stone house, which was formerly used for teaching a generation ago.

The programme includes courses both for beginners and for practitioners who are already using hypnotherapy and who wish to expand their repertoire of skills to new horizons. After the introductory course, the focus is on interactive hypnotherapy. This form of hypnotherapy involves a structured and creative dialogue with the subconscious mind, and has a speed and power substantially beyond the technique of simple direct suggestion and guided visualisation.

For bookings or enquires, please contact Deborah Marshall-Warren on: London (020) 7432-0307, or email appointments@marshall-warren.com.

THE PROGRAMME

Four courses are offered: For non-practitioners, the Introduction to Hypnotherapy course is a pre-requisite for the Interactive Hypnotherapy courses.

Deborah's hypnotherapy practice, Whole-Being Hypnotherapy, is affiliated (as a provider of courses) by the Hypnotherapy Society in the UK. Participation in the Introduction to Hypnotherapy course will entitle you to apply to become an Associate Member of the Hypnotherapy Society, should you wish to do so. (See the Hypnotherapy Society's web site, www.hypnotherapysociety.com.)

The first courses were held in 2003 -- in Zabbar in May, and London in October -- and were a great success. We are now set to expand into highly rewarding further courses!

THE COURSE TUTOR

The courses are created and delivered by Deborah Marshall-Warren FHS (Emeritus). Deborah is a graduate trained teacher with a passion for, and a belief in, the effectiveness of interactive hypnotherapy. Following a career in teaching, she worked for several years as a professional designer, creating multimedia training materials for blue-chip corporates. She has been practising interactive hypnotherapy in London for ten years. Originally based in Regent Street, with a consultancy at the Harbour Club, Chelsea, Deborah now runs her own full-time practice in West Hampstead.

Deborah Deborah Marshall-Warren is a professional hypnotherapist who has run her own private practice - Whole-Being Interactive Hypnotherapy for nine years. She has conducted hundreds of interactive one-to-one sessions over that period, with consistently excellent results. She is now leveraging her former experience in training to share the knowledge she has gained from her hypnotherapy practice.

Before embarking on her career in hypnotherapy, Deborah was formerly a teacher at a college in East London, and holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. Her interest in creative writing, and in the creation of exciting teaching materials for her young students, led her five years later to develop a freelance career as a designer of interactive instructional materials for corporations in the UK. After six years in the multimedia training industry, Deborah followed her heart and the callings of her intuition, and launched into a career as a hypnotherapist.

Deborah holds a Diploma in Hypnotherapy and is an Emeritus Fellow of the Hypnotherapy Society, and a Fellow of The Royal Society for the Promotion of Health. She is a long-standing advisor to the editorial staff and features department at Here’s Health, magazine, a leading publication in complementary health.

Deborah is a Supervisor of the Hypnotherapy Society -- Accredited (SHS Acc), and is consequently able to provide professional supervision for hypnotherapists who wish to advance to a higher level of membership in the Hypnotherapy Society. (For more details of the Hypnotherapy Society's supervision scheme, see the supervision information page.)

Her professional experience has been wide-ranging: she has treated a very great variety of requests for help and healing. As well as publishing articles and contributing to them, she is regularly asked to provide information and guidance to journalists seeking to find out more about hypnotherapy and its effectiveness in specified areas. She has spoken about her work on television and frequently participates in radio broadcasts as a subject expert. Broadcasts have included both local and national radio.

Deborah is the author of the Mind Detox book (ISBN 072253647X) and Mind Detox audiotape (ISBN 0722599226), both published by Thorsons in 1999, and I'm Afraid of Hypnosis but I Don't Know Why, published by Whole-Being Books in 2003. They can be purchased online from the main page.

THE COURSES

Interactive hypnotherapy is much more effective, and can yield effects much more quickly, than straightforward direct suggestion. If you are currently using only direct suggestion in hypnotherapy, then you will be surprised and delighted by the power of interactive hypnotherapy.

The courses are fully structured to make maximum use of the time. They are backed up with comprehensive written training materials. They will comprise the following teaching modalities:

  • one-to-many lecturing
  • demonstrations by Deborah
  • practice between course participants
The course is focused on effective practice, and not on theory.

The courses differ in three ways: in their length; in how much prior experience of hypnotherapy they assume; and in what they teach.

  • Introduction to Hypnotherapy
This is a three-day course (or two-day intensive) for people with little or no previous experience of hypnotherapy. You will learn how to help ('induce') someone into a state of hypnosis, and how to carry out direct-suggestion therapy with someone who is in the hypnotic state of relaxation. You will have plenty of opportunity to practise helping your 'client' into hypnosis, and experience being hypnotised. This course does not cover interactive hypnotherapy. The therapeutic component consists in reading prepared scripts to the 'subject while in hypnosis. This uses 'direct suggestion' only.

For more details, see the Introductory Class page.

  • Interactive Hypnotherapy, Module I: Inner Team Building
This is a long-weekend course (one evening and two days in the intensive London course, or three days in the Malta course). It is for people who have attended the Introduction course, and who want to build up a repertoire of basic skills to a level where they can begin to practice interactive hypnotherapy; or who are already practising hypnotherapists, and want to enlarge their repertoire to include more interactive techniques. Interactive hypnotherapy is an intrinsically safe procedure because it places the client in control of the process.

Whilst this course will equip you with the basic techniques to commence interactive hypnotherapy, please bear in mind that it is the first step in the progression from direct-suggestion hypnosis. You may already be working in a therapeutic discipline or counselling environment, and be looking to incorporate interactive hypnotherapy into your work.

Interactive hypnotherapy offers you deeply fulfilling career, as interactive hypnotherapy has a tremendous power to help people turn their lives around.

For more details, see the Module I page.

  • Interactive Hypnotherapy, Modules II: Smoking Cessation
  • Interactive Hypnotherapy, Modules III: Inner Child Therapy
  • Interactive Hypnotherapy, Modules IV: Consolidation of the Whole-Being Choreography
These are full-time, intensive course (two days in London, or three days split over two weekends in Malta), covering the methods, principles, and practice of interactive hypnotherapy. It is for people who are already using hypnosis in a therapeutic role, and wish to become familiar with interactive techniques. If you are already using some interactive, or 'hypnoanalytic' techniques, then you may be interested in exploring other approaches and broadening your repertoire. Modules II and III will cover regression in hypnosis.

For more details, see the Modules II & III page.

For more information about the venues and how to get there, please see the Malta and West Hampstead pages.
